How to Resize Harddisk Partition in Window 7?

Sometime it is required to Resize Harddisk partition. Suppose, you have installed Operating system Win7 with Local C drive 50 GB, and D drive with 250 GB out of total 300GB HDD.
Now you want to increase Size of C Drive to 150 GB from 50GB.
This task can be done with Partition tool software or Partition manager. To Download Partition manager, click here. Install it in your PC. Launch this software.

Before partition procedure don't forget to back up all your important data.

Here EaseUs Partition Master Tool is shown.

Follow below Steps:
  • To increase size of Partition, there should be unallocated enough space in Harddisk. If there is not unallocated space available, then you need to first allocate this space from other drive.
  • Here i want to increase C drive size, so i need to allocate space from D drive.
  • Click Partition which you want to Resize and select Resize. Then select space by dragging mouse cursor. Click 'OK' and 'Apply' it. Don't forget to click "Apply" after every changes. If necessary then Software will ask to Reboot your PC also.

  • By doing this there will be some unallocated space will be added in this tool.
  • Now click Drive to which you want to increase size, and select Resize. Do exact opposite action as done to allocate space. Unallocated space shown added in selected drive. increase Drive size by dragging mouse cursor.
  • If you are performing Resize operation with C Drive (or Drive which has Operating system installed, usually Local Drive:C), and C Drive not showing unallocated space, then follow additional steps as below.
I face problem while increasing size of System Drive (C Drive).
This unallocated space can not seen in C drive while selecting Resize option. So i could not able to resize C drive. So i thought, to Merge unallocated space to C drive. But Also merging is not allowed with unallocated space. It requires Drive. So i created new volume from this unallocated space by naming it Drive F. Then i tried it. But there was a problem. When i selected 'F' drive, then in merging 'C' drive check box become disable. If i selected 'C' drive then 'F' drive become disable. I tried with changing 'F' drive type also from "Logical" to "Primary". Only 'C' and 'D' drive merging possible in this case. It was become complicated. So i moved all D drive data to F drive and then merge D drive into C drive. Finally i did it.

If you like above post, then please comment. Also if you have any other way to Resize partition then also comment.
