Tips to protect your ATM card and ATM card PIN number

Some useful security Tips to protect your Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Card PIN number.

Now, most people uses Bank debit card to withdraw money from ATM. So it is necessary to protect from stealing ATM card PIN (Personal Identification Number) number and card itself. Technology has its own advantages and disadvantages. ATM thieves can steal ATM pin number and card information remotely also using technology. 



Below is some useful security tips given, which can protect your ATM Pin number and card information.
  • Try to use same ATM for every transaction, if possible. By multiple uses you will be familiar with that machine, so that you can identify the changes in that machine, if made any. Sometime ATM thieves uses some additional devices on original card slot, which can collect your ATM card information. So you can check any extra devices attached with that ATM which should not supposed to be on machine.
  • Never share your card PIN number to any one. 
  • Never write debit card PIN number on card.
  • Try to check balance frequently.
  • Keep SMS/email alerts on. So that you will get transaction alert on your mobile/emails. 
  • If you use different cards, try to keep different PIN number for all cards.
  • Change your card PIN number after sometime. Do not use, your mobile number, birth date, anniversary date to create PIN number. Create your PIN using non related number from such events.
  • Never share Card PIN number on mail communication, on phones. Bank will never ask PIN number information on phone or in e-mails.
  • After completing transaction, always press "Cancel" button given on keypad,
  • Try to avoid to use ATM, when some people are inside ATM cabin and observing your activity. Also you can hide ATM Keypad and password while typing your Card PIN number.
  • Do not forget to collect ATM card and transaction slip. Sometime in a hurry, we forget to collect.
  • If your Card PIN number is stolen, then immediately call ATM help line number provided by Bank or contact bank.
  • Try to avoid help from strangers.
  • Do not forget to sign on back side of card. This will help to identify card owner, in case of card recovery.
